A documentary on the tradition of giving condemned prisoners a meal of their own choice just before their execution. Is it because of a guilty conscience that such a choice is offered? Or does the last meal serve some kind of ritual function? Presented with that choice — to compose one’s last meal — what would one choose? The principal “character” in Last Meal is himself a former inmate of the prison at Huntsville, Texas, USA. Today, his job is to prepare last meals for the inhabitants of that prison’s Death Row.
